Membership Requirements
Eligibility Dates
An individual is eligible for membership in The American Legion if the individual has served in the Armed Forces of the United States at any time during
- the period of April 6, 1917, through November 11, 1918;
- any time after December 7, 1941;
And must have served at least one day of active military duty during one of the dates above and honorably discharged or still serving honorably.
Because eligibility dates remain open, all members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.

New Membership
Eligible veterans applying for first-time membership must submit the following information to the Post Membership Committee:
- Complete and submit the American Legion New Membership Application online.
- Print and sign the membership application form from the email received.
- Provide a copy of your DD214 discharge.
- Pay the membership dues (amount shown on the application). Make checks payable to our Post and mail them to the address listed above, together with all the other requirements.
- Once the membership is reviewed and approved, a membership card will be mailed to you.
Transfers
Veterans applying for transfers from your current Post to our Post must submit the following:
- Complete the American Legion Transfer Membership Application online.
- Provide a copy of your DD214 discharge.
- Provide a copy of your membership card.
- Pay the membership dues (amount shown on the application), and mail the check and all the other requirements to the address listed above.
Renewal
Veterans applying for renewal must complete the following:
- Complete the American Legion Renewal Membership Application online.
- Pay the membership dues; if current dues are paid, please pay dues for next year’s membership and mail the check to the address listed above.
